The Association of Lutheran Secondary Schools identifies, equips and supports leaders to advance the Christ-centered ministries of Lutheran secondary schools.

There are 90 member Lutheran high schools in The Association of Lutheran Secondary Schools.  The majority of member schools have direct connections to the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS), and many have associations that include connections with Evangelical Lutheran Church in American (ELCA) congregations.  Lutheran secondary schools in Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Japan make ALSS an international organization.
 The ALSS vision

 ALSS is a professional organization committed to serving the unique needs of Lutheran high schools and their leaders by enabling them to improve and expand the ministry of Christian Education.
 
Leading
ALSS defines and interprets dynamic models of effective leadership for Lutheran secondary schools and identifies, nurtures, trains, and challenges potential leaders to apply such models to their work.
 
Resourceful
ALSS schools are engaged in mutually beneficial networks and partnerships that enable the identification, review, and recommendation of quality and innovative resources of all types (people, electronic, print, and program).
 
Visionary
ALSS has developed and aligned its operations with an innovative, empowering vision for excellence in leadership that enables exemplary Christian education within Lutheran secondary schools.
 
Christ Centered
Grounded in the grace of God in Jesus Christ, ALSS nurtures the spiritual welfare of its members and upholds servant hood in Christ as a ministry model for leaders in Lutheran secondary schools.
 
Advocating
ALSS is known and appreciated for its advocacy of the needs of ALSS education and personnel within the greater context of the health and future of the Lutheran Church.

 Our Strategic Plan

The Strategic Plan for ALSS is maintained by the Executive Director. The critical targets guide the Association's activities and provide a focus for project planning.

New Leaders
Goal: Future Lutheran High School  administrators are identified and supported to become leaders of significance and Christian influence.

Heads of School
Goal: Emerging and beginning heads of schools are identified and equipped in the essential elements of executive leadership appropriate to the needs of Lutheran secondary schools.

Professional Education
Goal: Current and future Lutheran high school administrators have access to resources and conferences to enhance professional development.

Consultation Services
Goal: Lutheran secondary schools are using consultative resources to identify, inform, and develop strategies to advance their mission and achieve their goals.
